Clinton Bentz, 79

 

Clinton Bentz, 79, retired Kansas Department of Transportation employee, died Aug. 24 at Newman Regional Health Center in Emporia.

The funeral was held Aug. 28 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville, officiated by pastor Alan Stahlecker. Burial was in North Tampa Cemetery.

He was born March 21, 1928 to Herman and Sophie Bentz in Hope. On May 29, 1960 he was married to Elaine Young, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Tim Bentz of Marion; two daughters, Cindi Smith of Lebo and Jeannette Bentz of Prairie Village; a brother, Ted Bentz of Stover, Mo.; a sister, Ellen Alvarez of Abilene; and three grandchildren.Oran Graham, 76

Evelyn Hackney, 86

 

Evelyn Irene Hackney, 86, former employee of Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton and active member of Newton First Baptist Church, died Aug. 13 at Newton Medical Center.

The funeral was Aug. 17 at First Baptist Church in Newton, with pastor Terry Tareila officiating. She was buried at Restlawn Garden of Memories in Newton.

She was born Aug. 4, 1921, to Carl H. and Agnes M. (Davidson) Porter in Burns. On May 15, 1940, she was married to Ray M. Hackney, who predeceased her in 1997.

She is survived by four sons, Merle and Barbara Hackney of Newton, Galeard and Ilene Hackney of North Newton, Donald and Rosaetta Hackney of Goessel and Terry and Laurie Hackney of Milton-Freewater, Ore.; a daughter, Carol...

Eldon H. Harper

 

Eldon H. Harper, 75, former employee of Severy Co-op and national guardsman, died Aug. 8 at his home in McPherson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at Canton Christian Church with pastor Birger Draget presiding. Burial will take place at Canton Township Cemetery.

He was born on March 28, 1932, to Henry William and Marie (Houghton) Harper. On Dec. 5, 1953, he was married to Patricia Bower, who survives.

Aldine L. Funk

 

Aldine L. Funk, 81, former baker for USD 373, died Aug. 2 at her home.

The service was Aug. 6 at First Church of God in Newton, officiated by pastor Brian Curran. She was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Aldine was born Oct. 25, 1925, to Albert and Anna (Scheikow­sky) Pankratz in Hillsboro. On Sept. 1, 1947, she was married to Arlie Funk, who survives.

Mary Just

 

Mary L. Just, 81, homemaker, died July 30 at Salem Nursing Home in Hillsboro.

The service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church with pastors Dave Plett and Loyal Martin officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Hillsboro MB Cemetery.

The family will receive guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Jost Funeral Home.

She was born March 23, 1926, to Peter and Mary Goertz Goentzel in Marion. On Aug. 10, 1955, she was married to Harold Just, who survives in Hillsboro.
