Hazel M. Evans, 78, homemaker, died Jan. 28 at McPherson Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 at the funeral home.

She was born July 27, 1929, to John and Flarra (Brannon) Lucas in Foracre, Okla. On Aug. 3, 1965, she was married to Wilbur Evans, who predeceased her.

She is survived by a son, Wayne and Alice Olmstead of Haysville; three daughters, Nina and Richard Horin of Fillmore, Calif., Kay and Howard McCain of Burrton, and Ann Evans and husband Loren Spurgeon of Kirkland, Wash.; a brother, Lee and Mary Sue Truitt of Kansas, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, 24...

Raymond K. Burch, 83, of Canton, retired truck driver for John E. Jones Oil Co. of Woodston, died Jan. 28 at the Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1 at Canton Christian Church. He will be buried at Canton Township Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Olson’s Mortuary in Canton.

He was born Dec. 23, 1924, to George Alfred and Mary Bliss Shayler Burch in Hollis. On May 31, 1949, he was married to Betty Bisnett who survives in Canton.

Goldie Franz, 84

Goldie Loretta Franz, 84, homemaker, died Jan. 29 at Salem Nursing Home in Hillsboro.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1 at First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro. She will be buried at Haven of Rest Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

She was born May 15, 1923, to Peter and Marie Loewen Stubby in Lehigh. On July 25, 1947, she was married to Joel Franz, who survives in Hillsboro.

She is also survived by a daughter, Deanna M. and Dennis Jantz of Park City; a daughter-in-law, Marlys Plett of Hillsboro; a sister, Maurine Martens of Hillsboro, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.

R.J. Bartel, 91, farmer and former owner of Bartel Insurance Agency, died Jan. 28 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro. He will be buried at Johannestal Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

He was born March 22, 1916, to John A. and Sarah Quiring Bartel in Hillsboro. On Jan. 30, 1942, he was married to Mathilda Rempel, who predeceased him.

He is survived by two sons, John and Lila Bartel of Topeka, and Robert and Sharon Bartel of McPherson; a daughter, Mary and Bill Johnson of Newton; a sister, Luetta LaRoe of Wichita; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

George J. Endres, 88, former granite-cutter and designer for Norton’s Memorials, died Jan. 25 at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 at Miller Funeral Home, 107 S. Lancaster Ave., Hesston.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born and raised in Newton on the family farm. He was married to Bette Norton, who survives at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

He is also survived by a son, Jay (Jim) Endres of Redwood City, Calif.; a sister, Marie McQuarie of Santa Fe, N.M.; and two half-sisters, Alice Smith of Wichita, and Carolyn Davidson of Decatur, Texas.
