NancyJoLeachman

A flour-sack collector from Salina will present her unique avocation at the next session of Lifelong Learning at 9:45 a.m. Friday in the Wohlge?muth Edu?ca?tion Center on the Tabor College campus.

?It will take you back to your childhood as she tells of milling, art and marketing,? said Connie Isaac, program coordinator.

Nancy Jo Leachman has been a reference librarian for 37 years. She started collecting flour sacks about 13 years ago.

First attracted by their artwork, Leachman said flour sacks came to embody many aspects of Kansas and U.S. history, such as agriculture, art, marketing, nutrition and politics.

Her collection can be viewed at tinyurl.com/bmk6rnt.

Lifelong Learning meets each Friday through the fall and spring semesters. Fees are $4 per session or $15 per semester ($29 per couple) payable at the door.

Registration allows for an optional lunch at a discount price in the cafeteria after the session.
