Free child screening in Hillsboro Jan. 8

Marion County Early Inter­vention Services will offer a free screening for children birth through age 5 on Tuesday, Jan, 8, at Hillsboro United Methodist Church, 905 E. D St.

Appointments will be available from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

At the screening, development will be checked in the learning, motor, language and social areas. Vision and hearing also will be screened. This process usually takes at least one hour for a child to complete.

All children are welcome, but an appointment is necessary. To make one, call 620-382-2858.


New Year’s Eve hymn sing planned

A New Year’s Eve community hymn sing is planned for 7 p.m. Dec. 31 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe.

The event includes singing, scripture reading, prayer and music with Steve Vincent serving as coordinator. Those attending will have an opportunity to select favorite hymns.

The theme will be “More Than Just Another Doctrine.”

A time of visiting and refreshments, including New Year’s cookies, will follow the program.


FFA alumni plan Jan. 4 meal deal

The Hillsboro FFA alumni group will host a meal deal at the home basketball game with Pratt Friday, Jan. 4.

The meal will consist of a sloppy joe, chips, carrots, pickle and drink. Dessert will feature KSU Call Hall Ice Cream.

The cost of the meal will be $5. Proceeds will support the Hillsboro FFA Chapter.
