Hillsboro couple to celebrate 50 years

Pearl and Velma Hadley announce their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 26 with family events planned.
They were married Aug. 26, 1961, in Halstead by Pastor Roland Goering. Both were employed at Halstead Hospital in Halstead.
Velma became a registered nurse after graduating from Bethel Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Bethel. Her husband was a barber. Both are retired.
The couple lived and worked in Kansas City, Hillsboro, Moscow, Idaho, San Diego, Calif., Yuma, Ariz., returning to Hillsboro in 1999 to begin retirement.
Their children are Brian and Theresa Hadley of Poway, Calif., with daughters Erica and Rachel and Janice and Daniel Schmidt of Salida, Colo.
Winklers celebrate golden anniversary
Gene and Doris (Richmond) Winkler of Marion will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 12.
They were married Aug. 12 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Marion.
In celebrating this special occasion, they took a family trip to Branson, Mo., where they visited Silver Dollar City and several Branson shows.
Gene is retired from the tire business and is owner of G&J Video. His wife is employed at the KSU/Marion County Extension office.
They have two children, Bruce Winkler and Sherri Hess, both of Marion, and four grandchildren, Macy, Kelli, Erika and Jake Hess.
