Anniversary- Mohns to mark 60th anniversary

Oliver and Marcella Mohn of Hillsboro will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at the Hillsboro Senior Center.

Relatives and friends are invited to the celebration. The couple requests no gifts.

The couple was married April 18, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Durham. After 50 years, Oliver retired from Straub Case International in 2001. After working at Tabor College for 33 years, Marcella retired in 2002.

Their children are Gordon and Vicky Mohn of Hillsboro, Jeryl and Vicki Mohn of Sugar Land, Texas, and Karen and Bob Haug of Jetmore. They have eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Duane and Shirley Hamm of Hillsboro will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their family from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 29 at the First Baptist Church in Durham. No gifts please.

The couple was married March 29, 1983 in Durham.

Duane retired from AMPI in 1994 after 37 years. Shirley retired in 1997 from the U.S. Post Office in Tampa after 20 years.

Children are Greg and Charlene Thiessen of McPher­son, Tim and Cherie Goossen of Hillsboro, Myron and Kim Hamm of Woodruff, S.C., and Albert Christenson of Bel Aire. The couple has nine grandchildren.

E. Kenneth and Ruby (Prieb) Schroeder of Hillsboro celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception at the Goessel Mennonite Church. A light faspa was catered by Keith Banman.

The couple married Feb. 27, 1948, at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro. They owned Prairie Flower & Garden Shop in Hillsboro from 1988-2000, and retired to a duplex at Parkside where they currently reside.

Children are Kathy and Ivan Schmidt, Vince and Vicky Schroeder and Russell and Debra Schroeder, all of Goessel. The couple has seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Henry and Verda Wedel of Goessel will be celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Goessel Mennonite Church. A short program will be presented at 3 p.m.

The couple were married Jan. 10, 1958, at the Goessel Mennonite Church. Henry is retired after 45 years of employment at Hesston Corp., now known as Agco. Verda worked for 30 years at Goessel Elementary School.

The reception will be hosted by Ron and Becky Wedel, Tim and Katie Wedel, Bob and Eileen Wedel and Daryl and Jacque Wedel. Grandchildren are Angela and Rhett Neufeld, Mindy and Matt Nuce, all of Hesston, Megan and Chad Wedel of Goessel, Lacy and Josh Lowder of Aberdeen, Ind....

Anniversary- Friesens celebrate 60th anniversary

PaulGretaFriesen.jpg PaulGretaFriesen.jpg Paul and Greta Friesen celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their children during Thanksgiving weekend.

They were married Dec. 5, 1947, the anniversary of his parents, Peter and Alicia Hey Friesen, at the Little Church Around the Corner in New York City, with his sister Ann and her fiance, Andy Anderson, in attendance.

The couple has three sons, Chris Friesen of Fenton, Mo., Peter and Susie Friesen of Hannibal, Mo., and Mark and Mara Sue Friesen of Henderson, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Paul Friesen graduated from Kansas University and Columbia Teachers College in New York City. He worked in the entertainment fields of radio, television and recordings for nearly 20 years.

In 1966, the Friesens moved to Stillwater...
