Hillsboro couple to celebrate 50 years
Gary and Karen Wiens, and their family, are inviting friends and relatives to join them in celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church Fellowship Hall.
Gary and Karen (Tessman) Wiens were married Sept. 29, 1961, at the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church.
They have three children: Greg and Ronda, Brian and Marilyn and Dawn and Todd Helmer. They also have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts.

Hillsboro couple to celebrate 60 years
Lynn and Elva Penner of Hillsboro are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
They were married Sept. 21, 1951, at the Brudertal Mennonite Church in rural Hillsboro.
Lynn worked as a bus and maintenance supervisor for USD 410 for 30 years. His wife was a nurse for 30 years, working the majority of those years at Parkside Home.
Their children are Linda and Morris Ewert of Goessel, Diane and Kent Jost of Hesston and Gary and Terri Penner of Hillsboro. They also have seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Cards sought for Goerzen’s 60th
The children of Willis and Thelma (Unruh) Goerzen are requesting a card shower in honor of their parents’ 60th wedding anniversary.
They were married Sept. 9, 1951, and lived in Newton and the rural Goessel area.
Family members include daughter Venita and Darrel Schroeder and Nick, Becky and Devin and son Bryan Goerzen and Brittany, Sheldon and Hayden.
The family is celebrating the anniversary privately the weekend of Sept. 10. Cards and well-wishes may be sent to the couple at: 713 North Kansas Highway 15, Newton, KS 67114.

Goessel couple to celebrate 60thMilton and Linda Goertzen will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at Goessel City Building, 101 S. Cedar.
The couple were married Aug. 29, 1951, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.
The anniversary celebration is being hosted by their children and families.

Anniversary event planned for Redgers
Gene and Jaraine Redger will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a “come and go” celebration from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20, at the Newton Recreation Center, 415 N. Poplar, Newton.
The couple were married Aug. 23, 1951, at Roxbury High School in Roxbury. Jaraine is retired from USD?373-Newton Public Schools in food service. They farm in rural Tampa.
The anniversary celebration is being hosted by their children and their families.
