Marion couple celebrate 30 years
Jay and Judy Smith, owners of Gambino’s Pizza, are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary March 6.
The couple were married March 6, 1982.
They have three sons, Jared and wife Chelse, Jake and Josh Smith. The couple also have two grandchildren, Cole and Devin, with another grandchild on the way.

Marion couple celebrate 50 yearsRonald and Ruth (Blackburn) Herbel are celebrating 50 years of marriage. The couple were married Feb. 18, 1962, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville.
Ronald worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 36 years, and Ruth worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 22 years.
They have three children: Brad and Sue Herbel of Rose Hill, Darryl and Angie Herbel of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mike and Kristy (Herbel) Gaddie of Wichita. The Herbels also have eight grandchildren: Carey Herbel, Kelli Herbel, Kristin Westervelt, Eric Westervelt, Lauren Westervelt, Trent Gaddie, Joel Gaddie and Zeke Gaddie.

Hillsboro couple celebrate 65 yearsJim and Gladys Schmidt observed their 65th wedding anniversary Feb. 2. The couple were married Feb. 2, 1947, in the Methodist parsonage at Pratt.
Jim is retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co., Greensburg Station, after 33 years of service.
Gladys retired from the Haviland School System after 25 years of service.
After moving to Hillsboro, Jim delivered medications for Greenhaw Pharmacy for several years.
Their children are Phyllis and Cliff Van Horn of McPherson and Darlene and Daryl Bartel of Hillsboro. They also have three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Canton couple to celebrate 50thJohn Eldon and Evi (Strickstrock) Otte will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 22 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 703 26th Ave., Canton.
The couple were married Dec. 22, 1961, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Canton. Eldon continues to farm, but is retired from more than 30 years of clerking for Boesker Auction of Moundridge. His wife is retired after 28 years with Rama Inc., Moundridge.
Their children are hosting the open house and include Ted Otte of Moundridge, Bryan Otte of Valley Center and Christine and Arne Reinert of Lindsborg. Their grandchildren are Emily Otte, Anneliese Reinert and Nicholas Reinert.
