Couple celebrated 60th anniversary

Glen and Mary Lou (Voth) Unrau of rural Newton, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 11 with a catered party hosted by the couple’s children.

They were married June 12, 1952, at Tabor Mennonite Church in Newton.

Glen worked as a farmer, school teacher and farm equipment dealer/salesman. His wife is the owner and operator of Hairlines in North Newton.

They have four children who include Lynel and Vickie (Frey) Unrau and DeAlan and Alma (Kaufmann) Unrau, all of rural Newton, Vance and Candy (Juhnke) Unrau of Moundridge and Lucia Unrau and Peter Terry of Bluffton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The anniversary party was for family and friends.

Ramona couple to celebrate 70th



Alfred and Darlene Sondergard of Ramona are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 6.

They were married Sept. 6, 1942, at the home of her parents.

The couple’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are requesting family and friends to recognize this milestone by honoring them with a card shower.

Louis and Joyce Maurer of Hillsboro are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

They were married Sept. 2, 1962, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville.

Hillsboro couple to celebrate 50th

Reno and Edith Penner of Hillsboro are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, 1498 Kanza Road, Hillsboro.

They were married Oct. 8, 1962, and are lifelong residents of rural Hillsboro.

The Penners are hosting the anniversary party and are welcoming everyone to attend. They request no gifts.

Marion couple celebrate 50 years

Bud and Tressie Kelsey of Marion are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, with a “come and go” reception at Marion Christian Church, 140 Elm St., Marion.

They were married Aug. 5, 1962, at Marion Christian Church. Their children are Kevin Kelsey of Marion and Scott and Deanna Kelsey of Hillsboro.

Bud is retired from the city of Marion and Tressie retired after working in Paul Unruh’s medical office.

The anniversary reception is being hosted by friends and family of the couple. Those planning to attend are asked to dress casual and no gifts are requested.
