Mennonite Men’s Chorus starts season

 

The Kansas Mennonite Men’s Chorus will begin its 44th concert season at 7 p.m. April 21 at Memorial Hall, 300 27th St., North Newton.

The second concert will be at 7 p.m. April 28 at Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple St., Wichita. The final performance is a joint concert with the 90-voice Kansas City Metro Men’s Chorus at 4 p.m. June 9 at the Atonement Lutheran Church in Kansas City.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at First United Methodist Church, 403 N. Sycamore, Peabody.

Burial will follow at Whitewater Center Cemetery in rural Burns.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Petersen’s Funeral Home Chapel, ºNewton.

She was born May 2, 1958, to Wallace “Vic” and Betty (Newton) Seibel. On July 17, 1976, she was married to Bruce Brewer, who survives.

Other survivors include daughters Melissa and David Coleman of Topeka and Shandy Lett of Newton; her mother of Peabody; three grandchildren; brothers David and Deb Seibel of Des Moines, Iowa, and Rick and Sharla Seibel of Amarillo, Texas; sisters Judy Eskridge of Valley...

Sawyer Kaufman

 

Brandon and Morgan (Peters) Kaufman of Goessel announce the birth of their daughter, Sawyer Mae Kaufman, born at 12:23 p.m. March 21 at Newton Medical Center in Newton.

She weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 191⁄2 inches long.

Grandparents are Lynn and Karen Kaufman of Moundridge and Marc and Kelli Peters of Henderson, Neb.

Great-grandparents are Virgil and Vernell Kaufman of Moundridge, Joe and Em Pankratz of Henderson, Neb., and Myron and Janet Peters of Hampton, Neb.

Great-great-grandmother is Olga Peters of Henderson.

We want to thank everyone who attended Saturday’s community breakfast. All proceeds were used to support the center.

Later this month, we are planning another fundraiser to include a pulled pork meal and entertainment by Bob Delk and the Boys. The cost is $6 and is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 25 at the center.

Bingo is April 10 after lunch and, don’t forget April 15 is tax day.

Those interested in taking the AARP driver’s safety class are encouraged to sign up.

Classes will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 16 and 17 with a sign-up sheet available at the senior center.

Haris Zafar of Wichita will be here at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, to give hearing aid checks.

Ewert, Garrison set April 27 wedding

 

Gary and Elaine Ewert of Marion and Dave and Debbie Garrison of Reading announce the engagement of their children Zachary Ewert to Melissa Garrison of Emporia.

The bride-to-be is a 2007 graduate of Northern Heights High School and Emporia State University. She is employed by Muckenthaler Inc.

The groom-elect is a 2003 graduate of Marion High School and Ft. Hays State University. He is employed as manager of Jimmy John’s of Emporia.

The wedding is April 27.
