Hillsboro library book group to meetThe Hillsboro Public Library book discussion group will meet at 9 a.m. Friday, May 11, in the City Building meeting room.

The bride is the daughter of Charles K. and Pattie Lee Dowell of Canton. The groom is the son of Kenneth Lindteigen of McPherson and the late Deanna Lindteigen.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin gown with a beaded overlay, spaghetti straps and chapel length train. The veil was cathedral length with white satin piping.
The bride carried a cluster bouquet of lavender carnations accented with baby’s breath and lace ribbons.

A Mother’s Day meal will be held Friday, May 11, at the Hillsboro Senior Center. Bring your favorite memories and pictures of your mother to share.National Receptionists’ Day is Monday, May 14.
A show-and-tell will be held after lunch Tuesday, May 15.
Haris Zafar will check and clean hearing aids at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 16. Following the noon carry-in meal, Sheila Schmitt, associate professor of piano and piano pedagogy at Tabor College, will give a piano performance.

Eugene and Marge Christensen of Marion will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion.
Eugene and the former Marion Regier were married May 19, 1957, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Marion.
Hosts will be their children, Tim and Michon of Marion, Ann and Randy Crask of Girard, Jay and Cheryl of Marion and Amy and Burton Harshman of Marion; and nine grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts.

Robert AlkireRobert Alkire, 75, retired employee of City of Florence maintenance department, died May 4 at Newton Medical Center.
The service was held May 8 at the Christian Church of Florence with Roger Scantlin officiating.
He was born Sept. 14, 1931, to Ambrose and Eva Coffman Alkire in Stella, Neb.
He is survived by two sons, William of Washington State and Kenny of Stillwater, Okla.; two daughters, Sheila Thouvenell of Marion and Elizabeth Crow of Stillwater; and eight grandchildren.
