Wedding- Sedlock, Call wed in St. Louis

Sedlock-Call wedding.jpg Sedlock-Call wedding.jpg Sarah Sedlock and Garrett Call were united in marriage in a double-ring ceremony at 4:30 p.m., May 19 at Central Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, Mo.

Parents of the couple are William and Barbara Sedlock of St. Louis and Patrick and Karen Call, Haven.

Matron of honor was Allison Whitley of Houston, Texas. Bridal attendants were Lauren Grogan, Boston, Mass., Sara Ellison, New York , N.Y., all friends of the bride, and Holly Sedlock, sister-in-law of the bride, St. Louis.

Steven and Brett Lynn Spencer announce the birth of their daughter, Kiera Lei Spencer, born July 7 at St. Joseph in Wichita.

She weighed 9 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Her siblings are Nichole Bunni Spencer, 16, and Kalia Lynn Spencer, 3.

Maternal grandparents are Jack and Marjory Boese and Rick and Linda Sardou, all of Marion.

Paternal grandparents are Trisha Damron of Wamego and Greg and Patti Spencer of Las Vegas, Nev. Great-grandparents are Don and Rose Hannebaum of Minneapolis and Doris Grahm of Wheatridge, Colo. Her great-great mother is Alice Medina of Wheatridge.

Local theater group to meet Aug. 9

 

The meeting of the Marion County Community Theatre Co. will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, in the Marion Municipal Building.

Anyone from the county who wishes to join this group is welcome to come to the meeting.

 Area youth attend N.C. conference

 

Youth from the Hillsboro United Methodist Church were among 7,000 who attended an international youth conference in Greensboro, N.C.

The SPLAT Conference—acronym for Seek, Pray, Learn, Act, Teach—met for five days of worship, workshops and other activities.

Leonard Friesen

Leonard K. Friesen, 80, businessman, died July 23 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, with pastor Roy Keller officiating.

Burial will be at 10 a.m., prior to the service, in Guadenau Cemetery.

The family will receive guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Jost Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1926, to Harry and Helen (Klassen) Friesen in Garden City. On April 10, 1949, he was married to Merlie A. Ratzlaff, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Lyle Friesen of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Lynette and David Derstine of Perkasie, Pa., and Darla and Max Flickinger of McPherson; two brothers, Elmer Friesen of Hillsboro...
