The business meeting is scheduled for noon Wednesday, Oct. 17. Future meetings are on the third Wednesday of the month.

Haris Zafar will also be here that day at 11 a.m. providing hearing aid checks.

The annual meeting of the Marion County senior centers is Oct. 18 and a good turnout is expected. We will also be honoring veterans at the event.

Unfortunately, we aren’t able to take any more reservations for the annual meeting.

Pianists to perform at ‘Extravaganza’

Eight piano students of Sheila Litke, along with four guest pianists, will be performing in a Piano Extravaganza at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, in the Tabor College Chapel.

The theme for this year’s event is “Afternoon at the Symphony.”

“These are all pieces written for orchestra and arranged for various piano ensembles, including duets, duos, trios, quartets and the unusual sextet, six people at two pianos,” Litke said. “The concert will feature pieces by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Copland, Strauss and Mozart.”

The eight students are Sara Sagner, Jared Janzen, Zach Neumann, Cora Ruhl, Krista Neifert, Janelle Rust, Sally Epp and Megan Wiebe.

Hillsboro couple to celebrate 65th

Mary Louise Eitzen and Jona Harold Baltzer will soon be celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary.

They were married Oct. 30, 1947, in Hillsboro.

Jona was a farmer, vocal music instructor, church musician and for nine years was director of the Kansas Mennonite Men’s Chorus. His wife is a retired secretary and nurse having worked as a physician assistant in Moundridge.

They are choosing a card shower instead of a public celebration because of health issues.

Case Just

Brad and Malinda Just of Hillsboro announce the birth of their son, Case Bennett, born at 9:41 a.m. Aug. 31 at Newton Medical Center.

He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

Sisters Gracelyn, 4, and Jemma, 2, welcomed him home.

Grandparents are Darrel and Geneva Just of Hillsboro and Steve and LaReta Olson of Marquette. Great-grandparents are Ray and Marge Just and Dolores Johnson, all of Hillsboro, and Dean White of Culver.

Kaitlyn Nicole Logan of Clay Center and Ryan Michael Jilka of Hillsboro were married June 16 in a double-ring ceremony.

The wedding was at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center with Father Larry Grennan officiating.

Parents of the groom are Mike and Karen Jilka of Hillsboro.

The bride’s parents are Richard and Laurie Logan of Clay Center.

Special music was provided by Kari Stratton, Sarah Logan and Erin Tombaugh.

The maids of honor were Sarah Logan and Amy Pierson.

Bridesmaids were Kati Beam, Lauren Rosales and Anneliese Rotering.

The best men were Adam Jilka and Kyle Jilka.

Groomsmen were Tanner Gassman, Clinton Parmer and Eric DePew.
