Schroeder, Emler plan Goessel visitKansas Rep. Don Schroeder (R-Hesston, District 74) and Sen. Jay Emler (R-Lindsborg, District 35) have scheduled an “Eggs & Issues” stop for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Goessel Community Room.

Family seeks card shower for Kerbs
The family of Lucille Kerbs of Tampa is requesting a card shower for her 80th birthday. She will be celebrating this special day Feb. 15.
She was married to the late Reuben Kerbs for 56 years and she has lived all of her adult life in Tampa.
She has four children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her family plans to celebrate her birthday with a luncheon in her honor Saturday, Feb. 16 in Abilene.

• ellen hein, 73,of Roseburg, Ore., died Jan. 8 at Middlefield Oaks Assisted Living in Cottage Grove, Ore.
A burial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Marion City Cemetery.
She was born March 10, 1939, to Otto and Irene (Poland) Goddard in Florence. Her husband, Vernon Hein, survives.
Other survivors include children Charles Hamm and Debbie Hamm.
Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, KS 66861, was in charge of arrangements.

The service was at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 1 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clay Center, with pastor Paul Tessaro officiating.

We will also have cards and dominoes Feb. 6 after the noon meal, and Feb. 8 everyone is encouraged to bring their Show ‘n Tell Valentine’s Day memories.
Gayla Ratzlaff, coordinator of Marion County Department on Aging, will be here Wednesday, Feb. 6, to help individuals file their Homestead and Food Sales return. To make an appointment, call the center.
Mary McFadden will be here Feb. 12 for foot care. If interested, call for an appointment.

Chess club to meet Feb. 9 in FlorenceThe Florence Chess Club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 9 at 726 Marion Street in Florence (the old Catholic school across from the Catholic church).
The group meets the second Saturday of each month and is open to all ages and skill levels.
Everyone is welcome and the event is free.

American legion plans fish fry
The Hillsboro American Legion is planning a fish fry from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16.
The cost is by donation with all proceeds going toward children and youth programs.
