We want to thank everyone who attended Saturday’s community breakfast. All proceeds were used to support the center.

Later this month, we are planning another fundraiser to include a pulled pork meal and entertainment by Bob Delk and the Boys. The cost is $6 and is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 25 at the center.

Bingo is April 10 after lunch and, don’t forget April 15 is tax day.

Those interested in taking the AARP driver’s safety class are encouraged to sign...

Ewert, Garrison set April 27 wedding

 

Gary and Elaine Ewert of Marion and Dave and Debbie Garrison of Reading announce the engagement of their children Zachary Ewert to Melissa Garrison of Emporia.

The bride-to-be is a 2007 graduate of Northern Heights High School and Emporia State University. She is employed by Muckenthaler Inc.

The groom-elect is a 2003 graduate of Marion High School and Ft. Hays State University. He is employed as manager of Jimmy John’s of Emporia.

The wedding is April 27.

‘First car’ will be April 21 faspa topic

 

Interested people are invited to share their story of “My First Car” at the Sunday-Afternoon-Faspa-at-the-Museum April 21 at Mennonite Heritage & Agricul­tural Museum in Goessel.

The event will begin at 3 p.m. with an informal story-telling session. Faspa will be served at 4 p.m.

This event, free and open to the public, will be in the museum’s Preparatory School building.

• Edward R. Butler, 76,

a retired college professor, of McPherson, died Sunday, March 24, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

A memorial service was April 1 at McPherson Church of the Brethren, 200 N. Carrie, McPherson, with pastors Chris Whitacre and Kathryn Whitacre officiating. Burial will be at McPherson Cemetery.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1936, to David L. and Zelma I (Pierce) Butler in Eldora, Iowa. On Jan. 24, 1958, he was married to Judith E. Brammell, who survives.

Other survivors include son Jeff and Angela Butler of McPherson; daughters Linda Brittingham of Dowagiac, Mich., and Nancy and Forrest Moyer of McPherson; sister Eileen Butler of Hillsboro; brother Donald and Velva Butler of Grundy Center, Iowa, and eight...
