A movie and popcorn will be offered after lunch Thursday, June 7, at the Hillsboro Senior Center.

The center will hold a fund-raising garage sale and silent auction from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 8 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9. Profits will be used for ongoing expenses.

Mary McFadden will offer foot care and speak after lunch for “Hug Your Feet” day June 12.

Jeanne Rziha will be offering diabetes classes from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 12, 19 and 26. Cost is $15 per class and $10 for...

Gail Elizabeth Jordan and Dwight Harley Ewert were married May 19 at the Kirby House in Abilene with pastor Bruce Anthony officiating.

Attendants for the couple were Lorelei Jordan, daughter of the bride, and Brenda Ewert and Amy Shelton, daughters of the groom. Ring bearer was Riley Shelton, grandson of the groom.

The bride wore a full-length white sheath with a jacket trimmed in embroidery and pearls. She carried a bouquet of lavender and white daisies.

Following the private ceremony, a dinner was served to those in attendance.

Mr. and Mrs. Eli Suderman had an early celebration of the 65th wedding anniversary with a family reception and dinner May 13.

Edna Koop married Eli Suderman May 25, 1942, at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

Their children are Donald and June, Ken and Carla Koslowsky and Lyle and Julie, all of Hillsboro, and Steven and Krista Bryant of Concordia.

Grandchildren include Kevin and Nicole Suderman, Diana Koslowsky, Kim and Ryan Campbell, Lisa Suderman, Dana Suderman, Anne Bryant and Todd and Raquel Bryant.

Heidi Braun and Todd McAtee, both of Shawnee, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Ron and Dena Braun of North Newton. She graduated from Tabor College with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and is employed as an English as a second language teacher with the Kansas City public schools.

Her fiance is the son of Ed and Kathy McAtee of North Newton. He graduated from Southwestern College with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and is employed as a teacher and coach at Shawnee Mission East High School.

The wedding is planned for July 21 at Rainbow East Mennonite Church in Kansas City.

Games, gab and goodies will be held after lunch Wednesday, May 30, at the Hillsboro Senior Center.

Donut Day starts at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 1.

Mary McFadden will be here for foot care by appointment from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5. Karrie Rathbone, associate professor of biology at Tabor College, will speak after lunch for World Environment Day.
