Commodity distribution will start at 10 a.m. June 13 at the Hillsboro Senior Center.

Wearred, white and blue June 14 to the Hillsboro Senior Center in honor ofFlag Day. Thane Streit will speak after lunch on investing.

A Father’s Day meal will be held June 15. Bring memories and pictures to share. Men’s coffee will follow at 3 p.m.

Mary McFadden will be available for foot care by appointment from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 19.

JeanneRziha will be offering diabetes classes from 2 p.m. to 4...

Larry Hiebert

 

Larry Elliott Hiebert, 64, certified public accountant, died June 7.

The service was held June 12 at University Congregational Church in Wichita. Burial was in the Haven of Rest Cemetery in Hillsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl, a son, Mark H.W. Hiebert and wife E. Marlowe Wakeman; and his mother, Nell of Hillsboro.

A memorial has been established with the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation.

 Mary Wiens

 

Mary W. Wiens, 88, former associate professor of early childhood education at Tabor College, died June 4 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.

The service was held June 8 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Dave Plett officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Don and Gayla Ratzlaff of Hillsboro and Rob and Sharon Arnold of Olathe announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Emily Ratzlaff and Cooper Arnold.

The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Hillsboro High School and this fall will begin her junior year at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

The groom-to-be graduated from Olathe South High School in 2005 and will be a junior at the University of Kansas.

The wedding is planned for Aug. 4 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

Kenneth and Bonnie Funk of rural Hillsboro will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 8 with family and friends.

Free lunch for school-age kids on Wednesdays this summer!

Kids are invited to Main Street Ministries, 415 S. Main, Hillsboro, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Wednesday for free pizza, activities and a three-on-three basketball tournament.

Other weeks will also feature live music, games, contests, water balloons and more.

The Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church music committee and choir will host a bake sale starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at the Farmers’ Market at the Schaeffler House in Hillsboro.

Proceeds will go toward the organ/musical instruments fund.
