Anniversaries- Nowaks mark 50th year of marriage

Joe and Joann (Svoboda) Nowak of Marion will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this August.
The Nowaks were married Aug. 20, 1957 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen, officiated by Monsignor Arthur Tonne.
The couple has seven children, Joe B. Nowak of Goddard, John Nowak of Garden Plain, Jerome Nowak of Salina, Judith Steinborn of Marion, Jacqueline Gengler of Salina, Jan Hanschu of Hillsboro, and Jennifer Frasher of Wichita; 38 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
They reside at 1895 275th St., Marion.

Parker SchwarzKurt and Paula Schwarz of La Cygne announce the birth of a son, Parker Reed, born July 27 at Olathe Medical Center.
He weighed 8 pounds, 5.2 ounces and was 21 inches long.
Maternal grandparents are Jerel and Serena Pankratz of Hillsboro. Maternal great-grandparents are Marlin and Sandra Stum of Towner, Colo. and Allen and Dorothy Pankratz of Hillsboro. Paternal grandparents are Robert and Debra Schwarz and Jack and Karen Lindstrom, all of Silver Lake. Friday, Aug. 10, will be “Smores Day” at the Hillsboro Senior Center. We will share some fun facts about this campfire treat.Tuesday, Aug. 14, Mary McFadden will be here for foot care starting at 9 a.m. Call the senior center and make your appointment today.
Wednesday, Aug. 15, is our carry-in meal. Bring your own table settings and a main dish or dessert to share. Dr. Zafar will start hearing checks at 11:15 a.m. and Chief Judge Michael Powers will be our guest speaker after the noon meal. He will give an overview of our judicial system.

The Hillsboro High School Class of 1997 met July 14 at the Hillsboro Scout House for a 10-year class reunion. It was a casual event with a BBQ pork sandwich meal and time to get reacquainted. The event was organized by Jessi (Thurston) Weisbeck and Keli Chisholm.
