Gracie Kruse 

Jason and Ruby Kruse of Marion announce the birth of a daughter, Gracie Joy, born Aug. 25 at Birth Inn in Wichita.

She weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 22 1/2 inches long.

Grandparents are Charles and Annora Goering and Dwight and Jerrie Kruse, all of Marion.

Storytime to begin Sept. 19 & 20

A new session of Storytime at the Hillsboro Public Library will begin Sept. 19 and 20.

The 40-minute sessions include book reading, activities and crafts for 3-year-olds through kindergartners.

Classes are offered from 10:15 to 10:55 a.m. or 1:45 to 2:25 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 10:15 to 10:55 a.m. on Thursdays. There is a limit of 12 children per class. A $3 registration fee for the three-month session is required.

To enroll your child, contact the library at 620-947-3827, or visit the library at 120 E. Grand, Hillsboro.

Monday, Sept. 10 is Book Lover’s Day. Look for a special crossword puzzle on books and authors. Tuesday, Sept. 11, Mary McFadden will start Foot Care at 9 a.m. We will also share memories and thoughts about 9/11. Join us this week for food, fun and fellowship.

Max Bura, 96

 

Max Bura, 96, former owner of Storer Refrigeration in Wichita, died Aug. 28 in Mooresville, Ind.

The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tampa.

He was born Sept. 10, 1910, to Maxmilion and Julia Pecinovsky Bura in Ramona. He was married to Beatrice Ucker, who predeceased him.

He is survived by a son, Michael Bura of Monrovia, Ind.; a daughter, Marlene M. Yaw of Monrovia, Ind.; a half-brother, Aaron Bura of Emporia; a half-sister, Miriam Riddle of Mesquite, Texas; and two grandchildren.

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission and Melanie Johnson will be offering an aerobic class for the intermediate-level participant who is looking for a fun and challenging workout.

The format will vary from standard hi/low impact aerobics, step aerobics, kickboxing, strength training and circuit/interval style classes.

The emphasis will be overall wellness, safety and enjoyment of exercise.

Classes will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Hillsboro Elementary Gym and will last an hour. The fee will be $35 for the 12-week course.

Instructor Melanie Johnson has been involved with aerobics since she was 15 years old and is certified by the Manitoba Fitness Council.
