Kyle and Christine Cederberg of Hillsboro and Ron and Gloria Dyke of Haysville announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children Kirsten Cederberg to Daniel Dyke, both of Wichita.

The bride-to-be is a 2008 graduate of Friends University earning a bachelor’s degree in organizational management and hospitality.

She is employed as a convention services manager at Hyatt Regency Wichita.

Preschool apps for 2013-14 accepted

 

Marion and Hillsboro are having application fairs for preschools for the 2013-14 school year.

Applications are always being accepted, but to enroll a child in the next school year, he or she must be age 3 by Aug. 31.

Piano recital set April 28 in Durham

 

The Durham Baptist Church will have a piano recital at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, April 28, to dedicate its new piano.

The piano was purchased with memorial funds of Geraldine Frick, Leland Kaiser, Oliver Mohn and Paul Pankratz. Guest pianists will be Sherilyn (Pankratz) Kadel and Robin (Unruh) Pekarik.

O.W. (Bill) and Ruth E. Weber Demain will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Peabody Senior Center, 106 N. Walnut, Peabody.

They were married April 27, 1963 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 909 S. Market by pastor L. H. Deffner. Bill spent his working years in various police and security jobs. His wife spent 50 years in communications.

Both retired from Shangri-La Resort on Monkey Island, Okla., in 2003. At that time they returned to make their home in Peabody.

The Demains had three children that include daughter Wendy Todd of Bellingham, Wash., son Daryl (deceased) and Linda of Mulvane and son Doyle and Sharon...

Ruth (Weber) Demain, born May 16, 1933, is celebrating her 80th birthday along with her and her husband’s 50th wedding anniversary April 27.

The dual celebrations will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Peabody Senior Center, 106 N. Walnut, Peabody.

The family of Willard Hett is requesting a card shower in honor of his 74th birthday on May 1.

His children ask that cards arrive by April 28 so that the family may share them with him during a private reception.
