Velma A. Franz

Velma A. Franz, homemaker and farmer, died Oct. 20 at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

The funeral was Oct. 26 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel. She was buried at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery.

She was born March 16, 1913, to Peter H. and Susie (Warkentin) Unruh in McPherson County. On Oct. 26, 1947, she was married to Milford Franz, who predeceased her in 2005.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Logan Isaac 

Lonnie and Tracy Isaac of Hesston announce the birth of a son, Logan Wayne, born Oct. 9 at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge.

He weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 21 1⁄2 inches long.

He has a sister, Tessa, 9, and a brother Rhain, 5.

Paternal grandparents are Al and Roberta Isaac of Hillsboro. Maternal grandparents are Stan and Carolyn Schmidt of Newton.

Mary Franz celebrated her 101st birthday with family members and Park Village residents Oct. 9 at Park Village.

She was born Oct. 10, 1906, to Susie and Klaas Wiens of Hen­derson, Neb. In 1928, she was married to George Franz who predeceased her in 1980 after 52 years of marriage.

She has three sons, Robert and Darlene of Hillsboro, Roger and Lawanda of Sanger, Calif., and George and Judy of Fresno, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Open house for Eugene Franzen 

An open house in honor of Eugene Franzen’s 85th birthday is planned for family and friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Agape Senior Center in Goessel. He requests no gifts. Three Sisters to hold...

Greetings from the Hillsboro Senior Center.

On Thursday, Oct. 25, Paul Jantzen will share his “Fall Wildflowers” slideshow for Thursday Theatre. Marion County will offer a flu shot clinic from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 at the Senior Center. Join us Monday, Oct. 29 for our Birthday Dinner and special music after lunch by Bob and Helen Fenstermacher. On Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31, you are invited to wear black and orange or a costume. After lunch, ladies are invited to stay for Games, Gab and Goodies.

A big thank you to our weekly volunteers: Irma Groening, Irma Koop, Lois Nuss, Margaret Funk, Darlene Matz, Marcella Mohn, Frances Rempel, Nellie Penner, Mariann Unruh and Mildred Jantz.
