They were married Dec. 5, 1947, the anniversary of his parents, Peter and Alicia Hey Friesen, at the Little Church Around the Corner in New York City, with his sister Ann and her fiance, Andy Anderson, in attendance.

Mike Kleiber (right), chairman of the Hillsboro Community Foundation board, accepts a $3,000 pledge from Bryce Wichert, treasurer of the Hillsboro Kiwanis Club, to go toward Hillsboro Area Impact Fund drive which concludes Dec. 31. To date the campaign has raised $236,729 in contributions and pledges toward its $250,000 goal.

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission and Melanie Johnson will be offering an aerobic class for the intermediate-level participant who is looking for a fun and challenging workout.

The format will vary from standard hi/low impact aerobics, step aerobics, kickboxing, strength training and circuit/interval style classes, with an emphasis on overall wellness, safety and enjoyment of exercise.

Classes will begin Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the Hillsboro Elemen­tary School gym starting at 7 p.m. and lasting an hour. The fee for the nine-week course will be $25.

Francis Cook, 92

Francis Lemmer Cook, 92, retired teacher and Marine Corps veteran, died Dec. 18 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winf­ield.

The funeral was Dec. 20 at Florence United Methodist Church. He was buried at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.

He was born March 27, 1915, to George Andrew and Lillie Ann Cook in Deaf Smith County near Hereford, Texas. On Jan. 3, 1946, he was married to Otillia (Tillie) Sevcik.

He is survived by a son, Robert Allan Cook of Hutchin­son; and two granddaughters.

A memorial fund has been established with Florence United Methodist Church.Cornelius Janzen, 95

Cornelius H. “Curt” Janzen, 95, former propane truck driver for the Newton Co-op, died Dec. 20 at Newton Presbyterian Manor.

Quinlyn Funk 

Jeff and Carisa Funk of Hillsboro announce the birth of a daughter, Quinlyn Judith, born Nov. 19 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She weighed 4 pounds 11 ounces, and was 18 inches long.

She has a sister, Emersyn, 3.

Paternal grandparents are Gerald and Sharon Funk of Hillsboro. Maternal grandparents are Jerry and Carol Stutzman of St. Paul, Minn., and Rick Hookway of Kalona, Iowa. Great-grandparents are Joyce Hanneman of Hillsboro, Roy and Mary Ann Funk of Goessel, Keith and Della Yoder of Kalona, and Lela Stutzman of Kinross, Iowa.
