Doris Louis, 85, retired Federal civil servant, died Jan. 29 at Love and Care Adult Family Home in Mill Creek, Wash.There will not be a formal funeral service. She will be buried with her husband, Lawrence G. Louis, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Covington, Wash.
A twin, she was born on Aug. 24, 1922, to Morgan and Mary Lewis in Marion.

Free screening to be offered in PeabodyMarion County Early Intervention Services will hold a free screening for children birth through 5 years Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Peabody Methodist Church, 304 N. Sycamore St.
Appointments will be available from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The process takes about one hour.
The screening will assess development in the cognitive, social, motor and speech and language areas. Vision and hearing will also be checked.

Greetings from the Hillsboro Senior Center. February is a great time to come in for lunch or an activity. Come and make us a part of your week and warm up with a good meal, friendships, dessert and coffee.Game night will start at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11. Bring a game and snack food to share. Gertrude J. Rziha, 92, of Great Bend, homemaker, died Jan. 21 at Alterra Sterling House in Great Bend.The funeral was Jan. 25 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend. She was buried at the Holy Family Cemetery in Odin.
She was born Feb. 28, 1915, to Emil and Josephine Zorn Schneweis in Odin. On Aug. 23, 1938, she was married to Frank H. Rziha, who predeceased her.
She is survived by five sons, Leonard and Joan Rziha of Hoisington, Jim and Jolene Rziha and Robert and Nancy Rziha, all of Great Bend, Gerald and Jeanne Rziha of Tampa, and Larry Rziha of Ponca City, Okla.; three daughters, Bernice and Marvin Kaiser of Hays, Mary Anne and Ron Hammerschmidt of Topeka, and Cecilia and Gary Schreiber of Osborne; a brother, Edwin and...

The Marion County Spelling Bee will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 in the Hillsboro High School auditorium. The public is invited to attend. Cub Scouts to host Pinewood Derby
The Cub Scouts will host a Pinewood Derby at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Hillsboro Scout House.
Contestants will be given pinewood to carve into a car to race.
