Jonas Carr

Tim and Tera Carr announce the birth of their son, Jonas James, born at 7:20 p.m. Aug. 23 in Dodge City. He weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

He was welcomed home by sister Hayden and brother Jenson.

Maternal grandparents are Kevin and Pat Heeke of Spearville and the late Cheryl Heeke.

Maternal great-grandparents are Elizabeth (Heeke) Beller of Dodge City and Robin Gery of Grottoes, Va.

Paternal grandparents are James and Kathy Carr of Hillsboro.

Paternal great-grandparents are Wanda and the late Max Carr of Marion and the late Florian and Nina Krotz.

Hillsboro woman to celebrate 90th

Pearl Koch of Hillsboro will be celebrating her 90th birthday Sunday, Oct. 7.

Her children, Wayne and Veronica Koch of Wichita, Carolyn Koch of Emporia, Gordon and Judy Hiebert of Hillsboro and Tom and Glenda Fleener of El?Dorado are hosting a birthday celebration in her honor.

The event will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Durham Baptist Church, 725 Abilene Ave. Friends are invited. The family requests no gifts.

Hillsboro couple celebrate 70 years

Levi Brown and Georgia Dick eloped Oct. 3, 1942, at 18 years old with Judge Hargett of Marion officiating.

They have two children to include JoAnn and husband Mark Taku and Jerald Brown and wife Alma.

While some people said the marriage wouldn’t last, the couple is celebrating 70 years of marriage.

of Roxbury, died Sept. 28.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at Evangelical Covenant Church, 102 S. Washington, Lindsborg. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 7, also at the church.

Burial was at Pleasantview Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 30, 1929, to Raymond and Jeannette Burch in Roxbury. He was married to Delores Burch, who survives.

Other survivors include daughters Marsha and Brad Howe, Coleen Minns and Sandra and Daryl Brunsell; sons Kent and Debbie, Ron and Justin Susan Burch; brothers Clifford and Marilyn Burch of Lockport, N.Y. and Wendell and Karleen Burch of Gypsum; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
