Next NAMI meeting set for Jan. 3

The next meeting of the McPherson chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 3. at Crossroads Assembly of God Church, 1064 14th Ave., McPherson.

Kate Mihlan, vice president of the local chapter, will lead a “share and care” session.

OBITRhodes • james c. “jim” donahue, 80,

of Lincolnville and founder of the Donahue Corp. and owner of Clover Cliff Ranch, died Dec. 18 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.

The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 22 at Morning Star Church of Durham.

Burial was at Durham Park Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 13, 1932, to Daniel H. III and Ona (Smith) Donahue in LaGrange, Wyo. On Jan. 24, 1953, he was married to Joan M. Dirks, who predeceased him.

Survivors include children Dudley Donahue of Durham, Tom and Rhonda Donahue of Ft. Collins, Colo., Tim and Lisa Donahue of Lincolnville and Debbie Donahue and companion Jim Holt of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Kayley Joy Hofer

Lance and Jennifer Hofer of Papillion, Neb., announce the arrival of their daughter, Kayley Joy, born Nov. 14 in Omaha, Neb.

She weighed 6 pounds and was 20 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are John and Joy Blakley of Enid, Okla. Paternal grandparents are Roger and Joyce Hofer of Hills­boro.

Great-grandparents are George and Mary Oller of Enid, Okla.

WEDDeinesHajek Deines, Hajek exchange vows



Jessica Lynn Deines and Andrew John Hajek, both of Tampa, were married at 4 p.m. Sept. 1.

The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Alan Stahlecker at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Herington.

The bride’s parents are Jeff and Gayla Deines of Ramona. The groom’s parents are John and Carla Hajek of Tampa.

Grandparents of the bride are Mervin and Leona Deines of Ramona. Grandfather of the groom is Lowell Barten of Hope.

Acolytes were Makenzie Deines of Ramona, cousin of the bride, and Nichole Taylor of Abilene, cousin of the groom.

Musicians included organist Lynley Remy of Burdick and trumpeter Kenny Roe of Herington.

Free child screening in Hillsboro Jan. 8

Marion County Early Inter­vention Services will offer a free screening for children birth through age 5 on Tuesday, Jan, 8, at Hillsboro United Methodist Church, 905 E. D St.

Appointments will be available from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

At the screening, development will be checked in the learning, motor, language and social areas. Vision and hearing also will be screened. This process usually takes at least one hour for a child to complete.

All children are welcome, but an appointment is necessary. To make one, call 620-382-2858.
