4-H News (February 10, 2016)

? Do you have a favorite Kansan? At the Jan. 10 Tampa Triple T?s 4-H meeting, 15 members, four leaders and six parents did.

Kim Oborny reminded everyone that county club day was Feb. 20 at the Metho?dist Church in Hillsboro. Registration, due by Feb. 8, is done online. Regional club day will be March 12 at Butler County Community College in El Dorado.

Feb. 27 is 4-H Day with the K-State women?s basketball team. Registration is due Jan. 15. The registration is done online.

Kansas Jr. Beef Producer Day is March 5 in Weber Arena at K-State. Registra?tion is due Feb. 10. The cost is $15 per person or $20 per person after Feb. 10.

Other dates to remember are June 4-7 for county camp and June 4-5 for rookie camp. Kim gave another reminder that the county fair will be July 28-30 and all entries will have to be pre-entered online.

A wind energy information meeting is planned for Jan. 18 and 19 at the Tampa Senior Center; the club has been asked to serve refreshments. 4-Hers will serve cookies and drinks at the meeting both evenings.

Isabel Rziha gave a demonstration on making colored marshmallows. Keegan August gave an illustrated talk on the planets.

The next meeting will be Sunday, Feb. 14. This meeting will be our potluck that begins at 12:30 p.m. The officers? parents will conduct the meeting. Everyone will bring a main dish and another dish. If your last name starts with A-G, bring bread or a vegetable. If your last name starts with H-O, bring dessert. If your name starts with P-Z, bring a salad. Talks will be given by Karsen Kroupa, Logan Oborny and Grant Evans. Dan and Kim Oborny will be the hosts.
