Norman Schmidt (left), member of Goessel’s AGAPE Senior Center board, presents a check for $20,000 to Myron Schmidt, vice president of the Goessel Community Foundation, and Sandi Fruit, director of the Central Kansas Community Foundation, at the Oct. 15 GCF board meeting. The funds were generated by the sale of the senior center facility following its closure. The money will establish the “Goessel Community Seniors Endowed Fund,” which is intended to benefit all Goessel-area seniors. “While we are saddened by the loss of the AGAPE Senior Center, which has been a part of the Goessel community for decades, we are honored that the board would entrust the Goessel Community Foundation with these funds,” said Cheryl Wiens, GCF president. “We hope to continue to support Goessel-area seniors through the use of these funds.”
