The Marion County-Wide 4-H Horse Project Club will be having its annual hot-dog roast and beginner’s trail ride to begin the year and welcome anyone interested in joining.
This event will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the rural home of Belinder Engler.
Interested families should call Engler at 620-924-5254.
The club also will host its annual fun show at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Marion, with check-in starting at 9 a.m.
This is an opportunity for individuals and families (not necessarily 4-H), from children through adults, to be involved in fun, horse-related activities and races. More information will be forthcoming.
The club recently has participated in trail rides, including an overnight event Aug. 11-12 at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, and another ride on Sept. 16. The club also had several rides out at Eastlake during the summer.
Two trail rides scheduled for more advanced riders are planned for Oct. 14 and 21 at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge. The club will also be taking part in a Cancer Trail Ride near Manhattan Oct. 5-7.
The club participated in the Old Settlers Day Parade in Marion on Saturday, with seven horses and ponies being ridden.
