Staci Joan Thurston and Frederick Ruben Silhan were married Jan. 4 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Bruce Porter officiating the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Lou and Lori Thurston of Hillsboro. The groom is the son of Terry and Kathy Silhan of Pilsen.

Grandparents are Jim and Jo Ann Thurston of Burdick; Art and Harriet Suderman and Vi Suderman, all of Hillsboro; Maxine Svitak of Pilsen; and Ella Winter of Marion.

Maid of honor was Jessi Weisbeck, sister of the bride. Best man was Kevin Steiner of Lincolnville.

Bridesmaids were Jessica Ollenburger of Hillsboro and Meggan Daniel, sister of the groom. Flower girl was Ellian Weisbeck, niece of the bride.

The bride's personal attendant was Laurie Hadley of Manhattan.

Groomsmen were Geoff Daniel, brother-in-law of the groom, and Todd Winter, cousin of the groom. Ring bearer was Cody Winter, cousin of the groom.

Ushers were Lucas Carlson, Kelly Steiner, Damien Svitak and Shane Svitak.

Candlelighters were Mayra Aguirra and Bethany Waring, both of Emporia.

Greeter was Erica Saltzman of Lehigh, and guestbook attendants were Catherine Dekler and Crystal Castropp, both of Emporia.

Musicians were organist LeOra Grunau and pianist Karla Teljanova.

The bride wore a full-length satin dress with a scalloped-edge bodice of beads and sequins. The elbow-length tulle veil had a cut-stone headpiece.

The bride carried a bouquet of red roses, hypericum berries and heather.

The sanctuary was decorated with poinsettias, tulle bows and evergreen.

The reception was held in the fellowship hall following the ceremony. Hosts were the aunts and uncles of the bride.

Reception assistants were Sara, Toshia and Nadia Foth of Kerman, Calif.; Kelsi and Grant Suderman of Garnett; and Michael, Tyler and Adam Suderman, cousins of the bride.

The bride is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and is a senior majoring in marketing at Emporia State University.

The groom is a graduate of Centre High School and is a senior majoring in mechanical-engineering technology at Kansas State University in Salina. After graduation, he will be employed as plant engineer with Cargill.

The rehearsal dinner was held March 3 at the Hillsboro Scout House and hosted by the groom's parents.

Following a honeymoon cruise to Cozumel, the couple resides in Salina and plans to move to Sidney, Ohio, in June.
