Jacob Janzen, 73

Jacob Janzen, 73, carpenter, died April 24 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

The funeral was April 27 at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel with pastor John Ratzlaff officiating. The burial was at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 16, 1929, to Jacob and Katharina (Peters) Janzen in the Ukraine, Russia. On Feb. 16, 1958, he was married to Anna Peters, who survives.

He is also survived by one son, Jake Janzen of Claypool, Ind.; one daughter, Annie Peterson of Highley Ariz.; two brothers, Peter and John Janzen, both of Manitoba, Canada; one sister, Helen Pauls of Manitoba; and 10 grandchildren.

Elda Sommerfeld, 67

Elda May Sommerfeld, 67, died April 27 at Memorial Hospital in McPherson.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Canton with pastor Michael Sharp officiating. Burial will be held at Roxbury Valley View Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 2, 1935, to Charles John and Elsie Irma (Auernheimer) Sommerfeld in Canton.

She is survived by four brothers, Clifford Sommerfeld of Halstead, Ernest Sommerfeld of Marquette, and Arnold and Verlin Sommerfeld, both of Durham; and one sister, Ethel Kaiser of Wichita.

A memorial has been established as the Elda Sommerfeld Memorial Fund.

Johnny Dornbush, 62

Johnny J. Dornbush, 62, retired aviation structural mechanic, died April 24 at his home in Marion.

The graveside service and burial with military honors was April 27 at Marion Cemetery with pastor Larry Timm officiating.

He was born July 5, 1939, to John and Violet (Morgan) Dornbush in Burns. In 1960, he was married to Margene Skinner, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Harold Dornbush of Hillsboro and David Dornbush of Wisconsin; one brother, Jess Dornbush of Florence; and two grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Central Homecare and Hospice.

Selma Jost, 89

Selma Groening Jost, 89, homemaker, died April 26 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

The funeral was April 29 at Zeiner Funeral Home. Burial was at Gnadenau Cemetery in Hillsboro.

She was born July 18, 1912, to Franz F. and Maria (Unruh) Groening in Lehigh. On April 28, 1935, she was married to David M. Jost, who predeceased her in 1996.

She is survived by two daughters, LaVonne Calam and husband Carl of Hillsboro and Muriel Plamondon and husband Mike of Englewood, Colo.; one son, James Jost and wife Sharon of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Bernice Thies of Marion; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial was established with Marion Manor or Eastmoor United Methodist Church of Marion.

Sharon Lefert, 57

Sharon Sue Lefert, 57, assistant vice president/customer service for Community National Bank of El Dorado, died April 25 in her home in Burns.

The funeral was April 29 at Holy Family Parish in Florence. Burial was at Burns Catholic Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 18, 1944, to Paul H. and Marjorie V. (Hobbs) Handle in Wichita. On June 20, 1963, she was married to Harold Lefert, who survives.

She is also survived by one son, Roger Lefert and wife Kathi of Stilwell; one daughter, Darlene Davis and husband Paul of Overland Park; one brother, Wayne Handle and wife Gloria of Oxford; and three grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Burns Pride Community.

Walter O. Shold, 82

Walter O. Shold, 82, retired professor of continuing education, died April 25 at Newton Medical Center.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, at First Congregational Church in Salem, Ore., with pastor Gail McDougle officiating. Burial will be at Pratum Cemetery in Pratum, Ore. A memorial service at Bethesda Home in Goessel will be announced later.

He was born Aug. 15, 1919, to Ben and Sarah (Weber) Shold in Richland, Ore. On June 30, 1962, he was married to Bernice Lehrman, who predeceased him in 1989.

He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Wiens of Goessel; one brother, Grant Shold of Richland; two sisters, Hilda Lee of Stayton, Ore., and Addaline Robinson of Hillsboro, Ore.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial was established with Joyful Noise Child Care Center in Goessel.

Camilla M. Weber, 72

Camilla Mae Stein Weber, 72, short-time resident of Hillsboro, died March 29 at Weisbrod Nursing Home in Eads, Colo.

The funeral was April 2 at United Methodist Church in Eads with pastor John Nadasi officiating. Burial was at Eads Cemetery.

She was born May 29, 1929, to Leo Xavier and Louise Alelaid (Schawe) Stein. On Jan. 16, 1948, she was married to Dale Weber, who predeceased her.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Voth and husband Bruce of Newton, Janice Gerber of Redcliff, Colo., and Donna Klose and husband Mike of Hillsboro; one son, Rick Weber of Eads; two step-daughters, Beverly Christiansen and husband Elmer of Minturn, Colo., and Norma Jean Ball of Longbeach, Calif.; three brothers, Howard Stein of Lamar, Colo., Leonard Stein and wife Darlene of Pueblo, Colo.; and Glen Stein and wife Sharron of Peyton, Colo.; one sister, Jeannean Tefertiller and husband Tom of Lamar, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
