n Two Hillsboro businesses are planning to move their operations this spring into the east half of the Hillsboro State Bank building on North Main Street.
Real Estate Specialists, now located at 312 N. Main for the past two years, has not set a specific moving date, according to Becky Nuss, an agent with the company.
The Jayson Hanschu Agency intends to make the move by April 26, according to Jason Hanschu. The agency is now located at 107 E. Grand.
In January, Hanschu was honored by the American Family Insurance Group for being a "Life Leader Agent" for 2001. The award is based on sales production and service to policy holders.
-- Terry Vinduska, a Marion farmer, was selected during a recent meeting in Emporia to serve on the state board of the Kansas National Farmers Organization.
--FO is a general farm organization based in Ames, Iowa. Its mission is to improve agricultural commodity prices by serving as a bargaining agent for members.
-- Karl Funk will be retiring from the repair business he operated for many years from his farm east of Hillsboro.
As of April 1, Funk discontinued shop sales. The Kanox welding supplies he handled has been acquired by Hillsboro True Value Hardware, and the steel business will be transferred to Jost Paint & Fabrication located on Goldenrod just north of U.S. 56 Highway west of Hillsboro.
-- Ron Schmidt, an agent with Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co., successfully completed the necessary requirements to become a registered representative with Equitrust Marketing Services, LLC, of West Des Moines, Iowa. Schmidt has been with Farm Bureau since 1998 and serves Marion County out of his office in Marion.
-- Laurie Hadley, a Hillsboro High School graduate and daughter of James and Diana Hadley, Hillsboro, has joined Frontier Farm Credit in Manhattan as an accounting specialist.
Hadley earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration, accounting and finance from Kansas State in December 2001.
-- Two Hillsboro natives were recognized recently for their achievements with Creative Memories, an international direct-sales company that teaches people how to organize and preserve photographs.
Lisa Braun Klaassen, now of Arkansas City, received the top award in leadership development and in first-line unit volume, She was the runner-up in total-unit volume.
Lois Epp Wollman, now of Omaha, Neb., received the fifth-place award both in first-line volume and total-unit volume.
Klassesn is the daugher of Jack and LaVerna Braun, Hillsboro, and Wollman is the daughter of Norman and Rosella Epp, Hillsboro.
