Laura Ann Chestnut, 56, former dietary manager for Shiloh Manor Nursing Home in Canton and Parkside Homes cook, died April 26 at Salina Regional Health Center.
The service was held May 1 at Canton Christian Church with Sherman Nungester and Jack Smith officiating. Burial was in Canton Township Cemetery.
She was born July 3, 1950, to Archie and Julia Driver Hughes in Baker City, Ore. On June 3, 1974, she was married to David H. Chestnut, who survives in Canton.
She is also survived by three daughters, Annette of McPherson and Jeannie and Renee, both of Canton; two brothers, Toby and Raymond Hughes, both of Baker City; and two grandchildren.
The Laura Chestnut Memorial Fund has been established in care of Olson’s Mortuary in Canton.
Tristan King
Tristan Rose King, 4 months, died April 28 at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
The service is at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with Nancy Douglas officiating. Burial is at Haven of Rest Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.
She was born Dec. 17, 2006, to Mark and Tina (Allen) King of Hillsboro, who survive.
She is also survived by two brothers, Jared and Travis, both of Hillsboro; a sister, Amber of Hillsboro; and grandparents George and Gladys King of Wichita and Daryl and Roberta Allen of Hillsboro.
A memorial has been established with Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Bertha Schultz
Bertha R. Schultz, 91, died April 29 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.
The service was held May 1 at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro with Roy Keller officiating. Burial was at Gnadenau Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.
She was born Jan. 11, 1916, to David J. and Elizabeth (Reddig) Enns in Chinook, Mont. On Aug. 18, 1940, she was married to Harry L. Schultz, who died in 1985.
She is survived by two daughters, Marlene and Leonard Froese of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dee and Dennis Goertzen of Henderson, Neb.; a sister, Anna Enns of Hillsboro; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Parkside Homes in care of Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Pearl Thompson
Pearl O. Thompson, 93, died April 29 at St. Luke’s Living Center in Marion.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Zeiner Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with St. Luke Foundation and Marion City Library.
Hilmar Voth
Hilmar T. Voth, 93, died April 26 at Presbyterian Manor in Newton.
The service was held May 1 at Grace Community Church with Dave Reimer and Steve Friesen officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
He was born June 22, 1913, to Henry S. and Elizabeth (Dyck) Voth near Goessel. On Aug. 24, 1940, he was married to Ruth Penner, who died in 2004.
He is survived by a son, Gerald of Roeland Park; two daughters, LaDeen and Gordon Stucky of rural Newton and Carol and John Mychalishyn of Mill Creek, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with Grace Community Church and Mennonite Central Committee in care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Raymond Waner
Raymond Waner, 50, diesel mechanic, died April 23 in Winnemucca, Nev.
A rosary will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Florence. The committal service will be at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Florence.
He was born Jan. 29, 1957, to Ernest and Betty (Bishoff) Waner in Hillsboro. He was married to Rhonda Waner, who survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Lena Hernandez, Sheena Acevedo and Katrina Rogers; two brothers, Ronald and Gene; and seven grandchildren.
