Charlie Reece (left), of Ag Service Inc., and Hillsboro wheat producer Randy Eitzen examine a wheat plant in search of new tillers during a gathering of some 100 area wheat producers last Tuesday. The group gathered at a wheat test plot southeast of Hillsboro to hear Gary Kilgore, a crops and soils specialist from Kansas State University, talk about prospects and options for this year’s wheat crop following a devastating Easter freeze. About 300 farmers gathered Thursday for an informational meeting in Hillsboro sponsored by Ag Service.
