Andrew Topham, a senior at Peabody High School, signed a letter of intent April 17 to attend Southwestern College. He will be participating in cross country and track.
“Andrew is an outstanding student and is the recipient of Southwestern’s Presidential Scholarship,” said Jim Helmer, Southwestern’s cross country and track coach.
“He possesses all the qualities we look for in our recruits—excellent academic record, character, work ethic and a love for running and competing.
“With Andrew, we obviously get the added bonus that he is a very talented, truly outstanding high school runner, having won two state championships in cross country and a state title in the 3,200 meters his junior track season.
“Andrew is the most talented distance recruit we have had in some time, and he has the ability and potential to become a national class college runner in our program.
