Richard Cantwell, professor of instrumental music and chair of the music department at Tabor College, along with his students, will present “Our Own Pops Concert” at the 60+ Learning in Retirement Program, Monday, April 30.

The session will begin at 10 a.m. in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center, located on the Tabor College campus.

“Our Own Pops Concert” will feature music by the Tabor College handbell choir, directed by Cantwell.

Cantwell became chairman of the Tabor College music department in 1998.

He is director of Tabor’s instrumental music program, conducting several ensembles including the Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, College/Community Orchestra, Handbell Choir and the BlueJay Pep Band.

Before coming to Tabor, Cantwell worked in music education at Eastern Nazarene College, Wollaston, Mass., and Mid-America Nazarene University, Olathe. He also served as associate minister of music and drama at Central Church of the Nazarene, Lenexa.

Following the concert, the Learning in Retirement audience will be invited to play games and have refreshments.

Older adults are invited to attend. The cost to attend is $4, but first-time visitors will be admitted free of charge. Discount lunch cards will be available at the door.

For more information, contact Connie Isaac, coordinator, at 620-947-5964.
