The Tabor College Concert Band and Jazz Band, under the direction of Richard Cantwell, professor of instrumental music and chair of the music department, will give their annual home concert on Sunday, April 29.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m., and will be held in the Chapel-Auditorium, located in the H.W. Lohrenz Building on the Tabor campus.
“Tabor's band hopes that the music performance will provide inspiration, enjoyment and musical appreciation for a variety of styles,” said Cantwell.
The Concert Band will play a variety of literature, including sacred texts such as “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Christ the Lord is Risen Today.”
They will also perform marches, selections from Broadway shows and opera, and music for solo flute and solo trumpet. An eight-voice ensemble, accompanied by the band, will sing “Holy is He.”
The Jazz Band will perform traditional 1940s swing band literature. The concert will wrap up the bands’ spring tour, which centered around the theme “Let There Be Praise.”
The public is invited to attend this free event.
