James Fruechting

 

James R. Fruechting, 75, a farmer and owner/operator of Marion Hardware, died Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Marion Christian Church with Pastor Carl Helm officiating. He was buried at the Marion Cemetery with military honors.

He was born Dec. 24, 1932, to J.L. Les and Ada (Krueger) Fruechting. He was married to Donna Claire Miesse in October of 1955.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Clair Meredith of Bartlesville, Okla., Sue Nyberg of Andover, Patricia Chamberland of Marion; two brothers, Don of Marion and Dwight of Salina; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial has been established with the Marion Christian Church.

Ziener Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Kathryn Puckett

 

Kathryn R. Puckett, 93, retired bank teller, died Wednes­day, Oct. 29, at Asbury Park Healthcare in Newton.

The service and burial were Friday, Oct. 31, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Denver, Colo.

She was born Oct. 22, 1915, to Rola and Sidnie (Watkins) Browning in Syracuse. In June 1931, she was married to Jess Puckett, who predceased her in March 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Laverna and Donald Parrish of Burns; son, Bill and Sandra Puckett of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother, Donald and Anne Browning of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Mary Helm of Syracuse and Lois McPhail of George­town, Texas; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of Peterson Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton, KS 67114.

 

Delbert Roper

 

Delbert E. Roper, 79, a farmer, stockman and cattle buyer, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, in Hastings, Neb.

The service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel, Superior, Neb., with pastor Joyce Beam officiating.

Military burial was in Hardy Cemetery, Hardy, Neb.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

He was born May 5, 1929, to Earl and Edna (Workman) Roper in Courtland.

He was married to Alta Faye Briggs on Jan. 3, 1951, who predeceased him Sept. 1, 2004.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Roper of Hastings; brother, Harold of Lincoln; a granddaughter, Jennifer Peterson of Fort Worth, Texas; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
