The Tabor College men's cross country team finished 11th out of 14 teams Friday at the Jock's Nitch Emporia State University Invitational in Emporia, Kan.

The meet, not on the original schedule, was added to replace the rained out Friends meet.

“This was a highly competitive meet with some of the top NCAA Division II and NAIA teams in the region running,” coach Karol Hunt said.

The Bluejays were paced by senior Zac Rembolt who finished 32nd out of 116 runners with a time of 28:22.

Dan Sigley finished 58th (29:01) and was followed by Zach Gould (60th, 29:13), Ric Johnson (82nd, 30:18), and Justin Ball (98th, 32:14).

“Zac Remboldt ran an outstanding, competitive race and cut his time by more than a minute from the last race,” Hunt said. “Dan rebounded from a sub-par race at the Tabor meet and ran 1:15 faster.”

“Zach Gould also reduced his time by 19 seconds,” she added. “Our top three did really well for us.”

“This meet was a good test for us,” she said. “It's always good to run against great competition because it stretches us and forces us to get better.”

The women's team finished 12th out of 18 teams Friday.

The Bluejays were led by junior Christina Addison who finished 29th out of 131 runners with a time of 20:29. Kelli Kopper finished second for the women in 58th place (21:47), followed by: Jera Teselle (68th, 22:03); Leah Kopper (78th, 22:25); Carrie Schroeder (88th, 22:50); Tessa Siebert (96th, 23:18); Julia Carlton (111th, 23:47); and Elissa Richert (114th, 23:44).

Coming—The Bluejays will compete at 10 a.m. Saturday at the McPherson College meet at the McPherson Country Club.
