Limited space is still available to participate in a Tabor College trip to the Holy Land this January.

The group of Tabor students and other interested persons will visit the land of Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, his disciples and early Christians.

The trip, from Jan. 5 to 24, will be led by Douglas Miller, Tabor Bible professor, and will include Mt. Nebo, where Moses gazed into the Promised Land, and other sites in Jordan, including ancient and dramatic Petra, Bethlehem and Jerusalem—and parts east—the Mediterranean Sea, Joppa, Caesarea—and north —Nazareth, Sea of Galilee, Dan.

“I am extremely excited about visiting these wonderful places again,” said Miller who, with wife Holly Swartzendruber, Tabor music professor, helped lead a similar trip in January 2007.

The three-week trip has four primary goals: understanding the Bible in its context, learning about the three major religions of the area—Judaism, Islam, Eastern Christianity—, understanding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and times for worship, reflection and prayer.

“We will have contact and conversation with a variety of local people,” said Miller, who noted Palestinian Christians as a neglected minority.

Although this is Miller’s second trip, the primary tour guide has more than 25 years of experience leading tours and living in the Holy Land.

Anyone interested should make that known as soon as possible. Non-students are welcome.
