CantwellLinda.jpg Linda Cantwell has accepted the position of vice president of enrollment management and marketing at Tabor College.

Cantwell, who has taught at the college since 1999, replaces Rusty Allen, who will assume the role of vice president of athletics.

Both changes are effective Sept. 1.

“Dr. Cantwell has brightened the classroom of Tabor and impacted students for the past nine years,” President Jules Glanzer. “She will now be using her skills and expertise in leading the enrollment management and marketing efforts of Tabor.”

Cantwell brings a background of business, communcication and marketing to her new position.

“I am excited and humbled to continue the legacy of excellence Rusty Allen and his team have established at Tabor,” Cantwell said. “I am passionate about this place. My vision includes partnering with my great admissions and marketing teams to continue to tell Tabor’s story. ”

As associate professor of communication and director of internships, she taught courses such as Marketing Research, Group Communication and Decision Making, Principles of Public Relations, Marketing Management and Consumer Behavior.

She also directed the strengths-based master’s program in business administration program at the Tabor College School of Adult and Graduate Studies in Wichita.

She was recognized in 2006 as a “Distinguished Faculty Member” at Tabor College and was selected to deliver the 2008 Kyle Faculty Lecture.

She has been published in several journals and her most recent publication was a chapter in “Positive Psychology: Exploring the Best in People,” released in August. Her chapter was titled, “Human Strengths: Differences That Bring Us Together.”

Cantwell also earned national honors as a Higher Education Consultant with The Gallup Organization, where her work has focusesd on the StrengthsFinder assessments that help people identify how they most naturally think, feel and behave as unique individuals and then how to build upon those talents.

In addition to applying a strengths-based approach to teaching Tabor students in Hillsboro and Wichita, Cantwell has provided strengths-based consulting for organizations such as the International Church of the Nazarene.

Gallup presented Cantwell with the Student Strengths Impact Award in 2004 and the Strengths Builder Award in 2005.

In her role as director of internships for communication and business at the college, Cantwell developed programs with dozens of institutions including the Kansas Health Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas, Newton Medical Center, the Wichita Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, The Smithsonian Institute, Sullivan Higdon and Sink, United Way of the Great Plains and the San Diego Padres baseball team.

Cantwell holds a bachelor degree in business administration from MidAmerica Nazarene University, a master’s in media communication from Webster University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Azusa Pacific University.

She is married to Richard Cantwell, professor of instrumental music and chair of the music department at the college. They have two sons and a daughter.
