Brubacher headed to Hillsdale PDF Print E-mail
Written by Free Press
Thursday, 31 July 2008

Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arnn announced via the Hillsdale website the appointment of Don Brubacher as the school’s Director of Athletics. Brubacher goes to Hillsdale after a nine-year tenure as Tabor College AD.

Brubacher, a native of Hesston, has a thirty year track record of success at Tabor College as an administrator, classroom teacher and as a coach of both men’s and women’s basketball and soccer teams. His leadership of Tabor’s athletic department was highlighted by increases in conference championships and the number of student athletes receiving recognition for academic excellence.

Brubacher is a graduate of Tabor and holds a Master of Science from Emporia State University.

“Our national search has produced an individual with an impressive understanding of the role that athletics plays in the formation of student character and how character development is essential to the mission of our institution,” Arnn said. “In addition, we have found a man with a long, proven record of success in leading a college athletic program. Don Brubacher will be a perfect fit here.”

Brubacher commented, “I’m honored to be selected as the athletic director at Hillsdale College, and am excited by the opportunity to contribute to an organization that believes that the pursuit of excellence on the field or court can and should be an integral element of a liberal arts education. I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues and being a part of the Hillsdale community.”

Hillsdale College, founded in 1844 in Hillsdale, Michigan, has built a national reputation by its maintenance of a classical core curriculum and for its principled refusal to accept any taxpayer subsidies. It also conducts a large outreach effort that promotes civil and religious liberty, including a monthly speech digest, Imprimis, with a current circulation of more than 1.6 million.
