Voters should be informed on issues

The Catholic Church advocates certain family and marriage values. Currently, we have 153 Catholics serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate.

Regrettably, only six of 102 Democrats voted 100 percent with their church’s position on 10 family value issues, while 60 received a 0 percent. Thirty-eight of the 51 Republicans supported their church’s views 100 percent. No Catholic Republicans received a zero rating.

Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback’s score was 100 percent with his church. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi scored 0 percent. She did get 100 percent ratings from the National Abortion Rights Action League and the taxpayer funded, misnamed, No. 1 abortion provider Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood is the largest recipient of funds under Title 10. They are supposed to be non-profit, but they had a surplus of $112 million in 2006. Since Roe vs. Wade, we have lost 50 million unborn babies.

It is our duty to be informed voters. I prefer primary elections rather than caucuses, where only a few decide who will be on the ballot.

Mrs. James Clemmer,

Tampa
