Ten area members of Alpha Omega Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma International, honor society of outstanding women educators, attended the Phi State Conference April 11-13 at in Hutchinson.

Attending from the area were Pauline Holub, Janine Bateman, Helen Reznicek and Mary Olson from Marion; Mary Regier, Jan Terman, LeOra Grunau and Anita Boese from Hillsboro; Sonja Koslowsky from Peabody, and Neysa Eberhard from Newton.

The theme of the conference was “Ignite Your Passion.” State President Cindy Baldwin, Galva, encouraged the group to ignite their passions through society business and interest workshops.

In addition to gaining new ideas for their chapters, members found new or renewed friendships from past conventions.

Jorida Rustemi, World Fellowship recipient attending Emporia State University, spoke about her country, Albania, its educational system and her career.

Terman, Reznicek and Olson contributed to the Founder’s Banquet Saturday evening with a remembrance of the society’s founders.

At the Sunday morning Friendship Breakfast, Debra Frey of Manhattan spoke of the work she and her husband have done to help rebuild schools in Afghanistan the past two years.

Delta Kappa Gamma International has teamed with an agency of the United Nations to upgrade schools in Afghanistan for the past several years.
