April showers limited the Marion High School track team to one meet last week and with the postponement of the Smoky Valley Invitational to Monday, the Warriors’ most recent test came at the Centre Quint April 8.
Marion’s highest individual placings came in the boys’ pole vault, with Randy Carlson and Dillon Richmond finishing 1-2 at 9 feet, 6 inches and 9-0, respectively.
Luke Gordon placed first in high jump (5-10), fifth in long jump (16-5), fifth in triple jump (36-0) and teamed with Richmond, Colin Eurit and Andy Shipman to run a third-place 4x400 relay (4:20.0).
The 4x100 (52.9) crew of Les Riggs, Randy Regnier, Eurit and Mark Kukuk placed second.
The 4x800 (10:33.2) team of Michael Kirkpatrick, Brandon Meierhoff, Shipman and Regnier took third.
Richmond placed fourth in 110 hurdles (22.41) and third in 300 hurdles (55.54).
The boys had six other top-five performances: Doug Schroeder (36-0, fifth) in shot put, Riggs (36-1, fourth) in triple jump, Eurit (58.72, fourth) in the 400, Regnier (2:29.2, fourth) and Shipman (2:35.2, fifth) in the 800, and Shipman (5:45.3, fifth) in the 1,600.
Emily Hett placed fifth in both the triple jump (28-0) and high jump (3-10) on the girls’ side.
Coming—Marion was scheduled to host the Herington CKTL Tuesday and will travel to the Conrad Nightingale Invitational at Halstead on Friday.
The Marion Warriors are also slated to particpate in the KU Relays on Saturday, the Smoky Valley Invitational Monday and a CKTL meet at Moundridge Tuesday.
