In a field that included larger schools such as El Dorado and McPherson, MCAA members Halstead and Smoky Valley, and area teams from Centre and Peabody-Burns, the Marion track teams more than held their own at the Warrior Invitational April 4.

The Marion girls took third in what coach Grant Thierolf called “a real tough, very good competition against good teams and some great performances.”

Kimber Hardey out-threw all comers except for returning Class 4A state champion Jenna Koch in the shot put with a throw of 31 feet 11 inches. Centre’s Hannah Kemble was third at 31-71⁄4. Hardey also placed third in the discus (99-10).

Julia Zeiner won the long jump (16-91⁄2), took third in pole vault (9-0) and fourth in the 400-meter dash. Kayley Heerey, Kalaya Jackson, Zeiner and Kristen Steinborn won the 4x100 relay (52.46).
