Rose Davidson, Doug Marler, Pam Varenhorst and Jami Williams star in Marion Performing Arts Group comedies at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Marion City Auditorium. They are looking through the window used in the short play, “Out The Window.”

Area residents have a chance to preserve an institution as well as be entertained in a night of laughter later this week.

The Marion Performing Arts Group will present two short comedy plays as well as other skits at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Marion City Auditorium.

Jami Williams, who will team with Pam Varenhorst for starring roles in both plays, said the $3 admission charge for adults and the $2 charge for students will be used to fund future productions.

Williams said it is part of an effort to use the auditorium more for community productions since the school is moving its plays to its new facility.

In the first play, “Out The Window,” Doug Marler and Varenhorst portray a husband and wife living with mother (Williams). Williams said before the performance is over “every one of them ends up going out the window, and it’s a fourth-story window.”

In the second production, “Not My Cup of Tea,” Varenhorst takes the part of the mother, and Williams and Rose Davidson are her two “old spinster daughters.”

Brett Billings, Hank Collett and Brady Hudson will present another comedy production, “The Abridged Complete Works of Shakespeare.”

Williams said there will be other musical and comical acts to be announced.

She said the evening is a great opportunity for the community to support ongoing use of the auditorium in a way that benefits everybody.
