Karen C. Pruitt, 72, teacher and former Florence resident, died March 30 at Flint Hills Care Center of Emporia.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4 at First Christian Church, 202 E. 12th Ave., Emporia. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 4 at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall.
She was born July 20, 1935, to H. Floyd and Marie (Whitaker) Slater in Wichita. On June 3, 1956, she was married to Gene Pruitt, who survives in Emporia.
She is also survived by two sons, Steve and Kim Pruitt of Wichita, and Craig and Ann Pruitt of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Penny and Jody Fleming of Waverly; a brother, Harold Slater of New Mexico; and six grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established with Guardian Angel Program—Dr. Grizzell, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6, Marion, KS, 66861.
