The Tabor College softball team saw its losing streak increase to four games with an 0-for-3 showing at the McPherson tournament Saturday.
“We got thumped,” coach Johnny Basset said. “The first game was good. Avila won 30-plus games last year, and we were beating them 3-1 with an inning left to play.”
Tabor misplayed a bunt, opening the floodgates on a four-run inning and went on to lose, 5-3. The Bluejays also lost to Morningside 16-0, then to Haskell Indian Nations, 7-2, in a chilly night contest.
“Morningside is easily the best team we’ll see all year,” Basset said. “The game against Haskell started at 7 p.m. with the temperature already down to 34 degrees.”
The Bluejays most recent win came against Central Christian on March 5. Tabor hammered the Tigers 9-0 in the first half a doubleheader in McPherson. The Tigers took a measure of vengeance against the Bluejays with a 6-1 win in the second game.
Coming—Tabor (1-6) is set to play Bethany at 5:30 p.m. in addition to a pair of other non-conference games at the Sterling College tournament Friday, and will open conference play hosting Bethany March 19.
