Centre—Hamilton proved no match for the Cougars, who rolled to a
66-36 victory Feb. 18. Trevor Troutt scored 21 points along with 12
rebounds. Zach Slayden scored 10 points.
Thursday’s meeting with White City proved a difficult matchup, with the Cougars outscored 13-23 in the second quarter of a 60-45 loss to the Huskies. Troutt scored 13 and Slayden scored 11.
Goessel—The Bluebirds crushed the White City Huskies 58-28 on their home floor in the Class 1A regional final Saturday.
A 19 point, 13 rebound double-double by Nathan Ensz proved decisive, as did the 16-8 run Goessel put together in the first quarter.
Ensz scored six in that frame and threw in eight more during a 15-9 run in the third quarter.
Kurtis Duerksen scored 10 points in the contest.
Goessel hammered Elyria 65-27 Thursday. Craig Banman scored 17 points and Goessel built a 30-8 halftime lead.
The Bluebirds meet St. Paul at 6 p.m. Thursday in Emporia. The Goessel-St. Paul winner meets the winner of Norwich and Olpe at 8 p.m. Saturday in the finals.
Peabody-Burns—With a 61-60 win over Berean in their league play finale Feb. 19, the Warriors improved their record to 11-9 on the season. PBHS took a 35-33 halftime lead, and held on to win behind Adam Benson, who finished with 10 points—as did Andrew Loucks and Duane Unruh. Nathan Bishop scored a team-high 15 points.
