No sorting is required as the process will thoroughly destroy clips, bound ledger reports and three ring binders.

Clients choosing scheduled route service are provided with locked document-collection containers for storage until the truck arrives to pulverize the contents. Frequency of service is matched to the clients’ needs, allowing both large and small businesses to utilize secure scheduled services.

These specialties include podiatry, cardiology, ophthalmology, general surgery, urology, orthopedics and otolaryngology (ENT).

New in 2007: We began the year with great enhancement of our Web connectivity. We installed a new fiber optic cable along with Tabor College, which allows for a variety of new uses, such as Internet “Web-inars” or the transfer of large radiology image files for teleradiology. WinPharm, a computerized pharmaceutical administration application, was upgraded with new technology. It is now used to check bar codes so the correct medication is given to patients. HCMC joined many other hospitals across the state and became “Tobacco Free” and “Weapon Free” in 2007. Internally, the quality-improvement process was improved. Incident reporting is now automated. Dwight Johnson joined HCMC in July as the new laboratory director. The radiology department also took the technology leap by getting new Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) and new computed radiography (CR) systems. PACS allows radiologists to read images from any location, and CR will replace the old films with digital images.

Looking to 2008: We ordered a new 16-slice CT in the radiology department. It will increase the speed and quality of the CTs taken at HCMC. The business office will be dealing with a change to a new Medicare intermediary and claims processing system.

HILLSBORO INDUSTRIES

Address: 220 Industrial

Phone: 947-3127

Web: www.hillsboroindustries.com

E-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Year opened: 1968

About us: We are a leading manufacturer of aluminum and steel trailers, light truck beds and flatbed trailers with an experienced and skilled work force that continues to develop and introduce industry-first features and high quality products.

New in 2007: Hillsboro Industries is still learning a lot by continuing to listen to our dedicated employees and our customers for suggestions and new product concepts. We introduced a new line of TuffLoader Tilt Trailers at the state fair, and they’ve proven to be popular with our customer base. We’ve also added a high-definition plasma cutter to the plant. This $150,000 machine provides heavy metal cutting precision that approaches much more expensive water-jet units, but at a fraction of the cost. This will enable us to bring more work under our own roof here in Hillsboro. The overall trailer industry was down 25 to 30 percent, but with a lot of effort we’ve been fortunate to remain even with 2006 sales levels. In fact, we’re bullish on the future and have kicked off a 22,500-square-foot facility expansion project, with most of the concrete slab already down and the structure beginning to take shape.

Looking to 2008: We hope to finish the building project by late March (weather permitting) and begin moving all of our facilities, equipment and employees under one roof. It’s time to get the HI “family” back together again. 2008 is also going to be a big year for HI with the introduction of the new “Acumen Braking System” campaign. We will be at the huge Quartzsite (Ariz.) RV Show in late January, with additional shows soon to follow. We also plan to introduce a couple of other new products as well as new weather-proof wire bundles in many of our existing products—a feature long requested by our northern and eastern dealers, especially where salt on roads is a problem. Also, be watching for some exciting news that we aren’t quite ready to announce just yet.

Owners: Merle Friesen, Marv Schellenberg, Mike Gerken and Phil Wyssenbach (Flint Hills Industries Inc.).

Number of Employees: 47 full-time and four part-time.

Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
